New Student Scholarship Auditions for students entering for the 2012-2013 academic year were held on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25, 2012. The deadline for accepting applications has passed.
"What do I have to do during the audition?"
The audition day for new student scholarship applicants will consist of the following:
"What should I play?"
Training at CSU East Bay is focused primarily on the western art music (i.e. "classical music") and jazz music traditions. As such, you should prepare two to three contrasting works drawn from these traditions that you feel best highlight your abilities on your instrument or in your discipline. Examples of appropriate repertoire include art song for vocalists, solo works or orchestral excerpts for instrumentalists, jazz standards or arrangements of jazz standards for jazz performers, and works written for acoustic instruments in score form for composers. If you are unsure about your selections, feel free to contact us.
"Do I have to audition in person? Can I submit an audition tape instead?"
No. All auditions are in person, on campus, or at specified audition sites, if applicable.
"If I'm awarded a scholarship, may I defer it while I study elsewhere?"
No.
"I'm visiting from out of town. Where should I stay?"
List of hotel accomodations in the immediate area.
"How do I get to the campus and where is the Music Building?"
