Watch, Ask, Listen, Learn! ...Each month, the CSU East Bay Jazz Studies Program will host an evening of jazz performance and interaction where the audience is invited to explore the unique processes, interpretations, and inspiration behind the scenes of jazz with guest artists from the Bay Area jazz scene.     Chris Robinson jazz guitaristAustralian guitarist/composer Christopher Paul Robinson (Chris Robinson) started playing in the Sydney area in various rock and jazz outfits during his teen years. His interest in diverse traditions of music has led him to work in many musical settings; large ensemble/small ensemble; acoustic/electric; intese/sensitive; improvised/composed. He has shared the stage with notable musicians from the jazz/rock world including Trilok Gurtu (percussion), Kai Eckhardt (bass), Marco Minnemann (drums), Simon Phillips (drums), David Friesen (double bass), Trey Gunn (Warr guitar), Eddie Jobson (keyboards/synth/violin), George Brooks (saxophones), Alan Pasqua (piano/keyboards), various Indian musicians, traditional musicians, improvisers and numerous other genres of artists across the USA, Europe and Australia.

    Wally Schnalle is joined with Wally Schnalle has become one of the most sought-after and notable drummers in the Bay Area jazz scene, as well as an editor and columnist for Drum! Magazine. For the past 20 years been active as both a bandleader and as a sideman to many great Bay Area musicians. His performances and interests embrace many genres including Latin, funk, rock and blues, jazz and fusion As a clinician for the San Jose Jazz Society, he has taken his energy and know-how to many schools to both perform and talk about Jazz. Wally received Bachelor of Arts Degree in Jazz Performance from San Jose State University and Wally’s artist endorsements include Zildjian Cymbals, Pearl Drums and Vic Firth Sticks.
